Want to connect the dots a bit on three primary ways to think about what you can do with APIC-EM.
- The API has several branches or services (see APIC doc here http://devnetapic.cisco.com/).
- The APIC-EM doc of course lists the APIC-EM apps by name
- The APIC-EM GUI lists the main functions as clickable icons on the left side of the page.
Big picture: What's the correlation between those three.Which main branch(es) of the API tree go with which apps and go with which main function on the far left of the GUI (the application pane).
API - Flow Analysis; App - Path Trace; GUI – Path Trace
API – Inventory; App - Network Visibility; GUI – (1) Discovery, (2) Device Inventory, (3) Host Inventory
API - Network Discovery; App - Network Visibility; GUI – not sure
API - Network Plug and Play; App – Network Plug and Play; GUI – Network Plug and Play
API - Policy Administration; App – EasyQoS; GUI – EasyQoS
API – Topology; App - Network Visibility; GUI – Topology
API – Visibility; App – IWAN; GUI - IWAN
Check the API deep dive presentations. There is a "use case" view rather than just the apps on the controller.
If you want to automate PnP, what are the API can be used
If you want to automate EasyQoS, what are the API
Automation of inventory tagging etc..
