My customer want to know about the simple process between IMC Supervisor and CIMC on the server.
Would it be possible to know how they communicate each other (like using some protocol )?
and what is the method for the communication? (installing some agent on the server or just using CIMC)
and the last question is, could it be possible to use the supervisor when the server (supervisor rack account server)have some problem with its CIMC?
It would be really helpful if you could give me some advice about above issue.
The communication between IMC Supervisor and IMC is using the IMC XML API. You can view this communication by capturing debug logging on IMC Supervisor. We collect the following information:
- Fault Data (Every 15 Minutes)
- Inventory Data (Every 24 Hours)
There are no agents requires, but ability to reach the IMC is necessary. Depending on the issue that IMC is facing it may be possible to use Supervisor to reach IMC (assuming it is not an OOB communication issue).
