We have a deployment in a mall with multiple floors and open spaces which span several floors. Access points are positioned on the roof of the open spaces and associated to the same floor.
We want to detect in which floor are customers located, but CMX active clients always report Z coordinate as 0 although there are several levels. Any hints on this?
The ceiling mounted AP configuration usually positions z-axis at 10 feet, and wireless clients at 0 feet relative to the floor. For each floor the AP configuration would be the same. The "mapHierarchyString": "Nortech Campus>Nortech-1>1st Floor", would provide the name of the floor, but I wonder if the "mapCoordinate": {"x": 13.5, "y": 49.900005, "z": 0, "unit": "FEET"}, could provide the z-axis offset relative to the building. Let me check with the CMX and Prime folks about AP floor configuration which would provide the building offset.
No Z is always ZERO.
Floor is the determination of which floor you are on and location services gives you X, Y.
Z is a place holder for future, but is always ZERO today.
Therefore, the mapHierarchy must be used to determine which floor the location refers to.
