Does the Meraki Dashboard integrate with CMX?
Does Merkai send x/y location data to the MSE/CMX allowing for analytics via CMX?
Even though they share many design features, they are different implementations of WiFi as a platform for detect, connect, and engage with end-users. One major difference is Meraki is cloud-managed and Cisco CMX is supported only on Cisco Wireless LAN controllers. Also, Cisco CMX is designed to scale to very large enterprise deployments.
One interesting development from Cisco includes the new Mobility Express which integrates wireless LAN controller functions into a software function that any network component can host, such as Cisco CMX Cloud. Just like a Meraki CMX, Cisco CMX can be deployed with as little hardware as a single integrated AP.
You can integrate Cisco Meraki to Cisco CMX Presence. As Cisco Meraki supports CMX APIs, Cisco Meraki sends PUSH notifications to Cisco CMX Cloud with information about wireless clients, which are then used to generate reports. These notifications are similar to NMSP messages.
Once the integration is complete, the data flow is as follows:
Cisco Meraki begins to send PUSH notifications to Cisco CMX Cloud.
CMX Cloud collects information about the Access Points from these PUSH notifications. The information collected includes MAC addresses, tags, and floors.
User can create sites using this information.
CMX cloud Web UI is now populated with data, insights, and charts that the user can now observe.
