We are a mobile app development team. We are trying to develop an app with Cisco MSE infrastructure. We face a problem with the interaction between mobile app and the REST API of MSE.
- The mobile app must connect with REST API directly?
- Is there any document that describes analytically the way that we must built the connection between mobile Apps and REST API of MSE?
- The mobile app must interact with REST API Directly or via external server?
Please, attach the appropriate document for any solution.
For CMX 10.2.2 mobile applications, you have a choice of Cisco CMX Connect and Engage Service and Cisco Enterprise Mobility Services Platform (EMSP) WiFi Engage
https://emsp-dev.cisco.com/wifiengage
Cisco EMSP is in beta on version 3, and will also support SDK native application development with iOS and Android.
Our client has MSE 8.0 with basic license. So we are trying to develop an app with Location Aware features (MSE REST API).
Our concern / research is about the communication between mobiles app and REST API of MSE.
- The mobile apps must interact directly with REST API?
Or
- We must create an external server, connected with REST API and external server interact with mobile apps?
The MSE 8.0 SDK Framework provides the APIs and support to get location, maps, points of interest, routes and banners from MAS (external server), see the following sources for information.
Cisco CMX Connect and Engage Configuration Guide for Mobile SDK, Release 8.0
Also, see the archived Documents, Downloads, and Learn on the CMX DevNet page https://developer.cisco.com/site/cmx-mobility-services/
External server communicate with MSE REST API and mobile apps integrate with external server.
